They are part of a new qualification strategy for the assessment and quality assurance of vocational qualifications. Qualified assessors will be required to meet the requirement for the NVQ Code of Practice for qualifications on the existing National Qualifications Framework and qualified assessors will also be required to assess new qualifications on the Qualification and Credit Framework that use NVQ in their title. There may also be a need to have assessor qualifications to assess new qualifications on the QCF that do not have NVQ in their title but whose purpose is D1 Confirm Occupational Competence.
Those with very limited teaching commitments can use this as a qualification to validate their teaching practice; those who have more substantial teaching commitments will be able to use it to gain QTLS Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills.
